300,000 euros to Ukraine

Paf and the Government of Åland chooses to urgently donate 300,000 euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The money will go to support the international relief work carried out by the UNHCR and the Finnish Red Cross in Ukraine.

“What is happening in Ukraine is really terrible and it affects us all. Every saved life and reduced suffering for families who are now forced to leave their homes and their country is a matter for all of us,” says Minister of Finance Roger Höglund.

The money that goes to the aid organizations’ emergency operations in Ukraine will be donated from Paf. This is done by Paf receiving a so-called ownership directive from the Government of Åland where Paf is asked to carry out the donation.

“We are very happy that our owner has taken this initiative. The situation in Ukraine is just unimaginable and affects us all deeply. We are grateful to have this opportunity to participate and contribute,” says Paf’s CEO Christer Fahlstedt.

The money will be channeled to the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR and the Finnish Red Cross Disaster Fund, as these organizations have established international networks that have already begun relief work for Ukraine. The donation will not affect Paf’s forthcoming distribution of funds for the benefit of society and the third sector on Åland.
