Paf donated laptops to Save the Children
Paf chose to donate IT equipment to the Save the Children’s organization. The equipment consisted of several laptops and a laser printer that was received by the children’s rights organization in the nice spring weather on Åland.
“Save the Children is one of our founders, we would not be here without them and they are very important for our community here in Åland, so whatever we can do to support them, we should do it, no question asked!,” says Francois Maugis Chief Technology Officer at Paf.
Josefina Berndtsson and Janina Björni from Save the Children received the equipment, which will primarily go to Save the Children’s Children’s Fund. The Children’s Fund exists to support children and families on Åland. The basic idea with the Children’s Fund is that children who live in a financially vulnerable situation have the opportunity to participate in leisure activities and other experiences that the family otherwise cannot afford. The support from the Children’s Fund is given, for example, for birthday gifts, arranging parties, Christmas presents, bicycles and other things related to hobbies and leisure.
“This donation gives us the opportunity to give a laptop to someone who lacks it,” says Janina Björni, in charge of the program for children in socially vulnerable situations at Save the Children.
“We will also benefit from some computers in our organization. For example, since we have trainees and summer workers with us, it is important that we have equipment for them,” adds Janina Björni.
Last year, Save the Children gave Christmas presents to 224 children in 100 families and 183 children received other forms of support.
“We are very happy that Paf thought of us. Buying a good laptop is expensive,” says Janina Björni.
