We welcome Gunnar Westerlund to the Paf Board

Paf’s new board member is Gunnar Westerlund who recently worked at the Helsinki-based law firm Roschier.

‘I worked for 25 years at the law firm, mostly with business affairs, financing and tax related issues,’ says Gunnar Westerlund.

‘Although I do have a paper saying I am retired, my ambition is to continue to work on various assignments that feel interesting and meaningful in the future. The board membership in Paf is definitely one of those,’ says Gunnar Westerlund.

Five board members

The Paf Board now consists of Chairman Jan-Mikael von Schantz, Anna Dahlsten, Sara Kemetter, Birgitta Eriksson and Gunnar Westerlund. Westerlund tells us that the partners in the law firm did not accept any external board assignments, because it could cause conflicts of interest.

‘But I have been the Chairman of the Board for four years, the Chairman of the Partner Committee for six years and a member of both considerably longer, so I do have some experience of Board work and management,’ says Gunnar Westerlund.

Last year, the law firm had a turnover of just over 100 million and employed about 250 lawyers.

New in the gaming business

Westerlund emphasizes that despite his legal background he is not an expert in gaming law, but he has broad experience in business law, financing issues and he looks forward to the Paf Board assignment.

‘The gaming industry is new to me, but I look forward to learning more about it. After 25 years in Helsinki, it is really fun to work with an Ålandic business, and in addition to that a well-managed company such as Paf, which also acts on the international market,’ says Gunnar Westerlund.

‘I know Jan-Mikael von Schantz since my studies and I have followed his career with both interest and respect. The other board members also feel highly competent and I look forward to working with them,’ says Gunnar Westerlund.
