A successful gaming export to Switzerland

For two years Paf has served as Swiss Grand Casino Luzern’s strategic online partner. The gaming site Mycasino.ch, which is owned by the Swiss casino, is today the most successful gaming site in the regulated Swiss market, with a market share of about 30%. The collaboration has proven to be a very successful export of Paf’s gaming platform.

“We are very pleased with the first two years of our cooperation. This is a really successful export of our expertise in gaming, where Paf delivers the technical platform, specially designed games from our Games Studio and operational expertise for the gaming site,” says Paf’s CEO Christer Fahlstedt.

Paf’s Director of Business Development Jesper Eliasson is responsible for Paf’s engagement in Switzerland.

“We have completed a fantastic journey, from zero to a well-running business in a short time. Responsible Gaming is regulated by law in Switzerland and our partner shares our view on how the business is future-proofed,” says Jesper Eliasson.

The world’s oldest champagne as a gift

To mark the successful collaboration, Grand Casino Luzern has been presented with a bottle of the world’s oldest champagne. The champagne bottle originates from the so-called wreck champagne that was salvaged from a shipwreck in the Åland archipelago in the summer of 2010 and has been dated from the first half of the 19th century.

“We feel very honored to be able to exhibit this historic find here. Through our online technology partner Paf, we have a strong bond with the Åland Islands, which is underlined by this valuable loan,” says Wolfgang Bliem, CEO of Grand Casino Luzern.

The award of the wreck champagne to Grand Casino Luzern was originally made last year, but due to the pandemic, the champagne bottle itself was finally presented this year.

The champagne bottle is now displayed in a stand in the casino’s restaurant Olivo, which is a highly-rated restaurant with 16 Gault-Millau points. The display stand is built into the casino’s wall – it’s automatically cooled and shatterproof with locked glass.

“Åland’s provincial government has decided to deposit a champagne bottle at Grand Casino Luzern in Switzerland for the next 25 years. Our government really appreciates our successful collaboration and they want to show it, by sharing this cultural treasure with the Swiss,” says Jesper Eliasson.

The Åland artist Zygeda Johansson Jurgutyte designed the plate that is inside the stand. The city of Luzern is a part-owner in the Grand Casino Luzern and tourism is important for the medieval city. The hope is that the wreck champagne will give the city another good attraction for future visitors.
