Team Wranå win Paf Masters
The Swedish team won the international curling competition on Åland and 8,500 euros in prize money.
The leading favorite won
Team Wranå were the leading favourites according to the odds and they went on to win without a single loss in the tournament. Team skipper Isabella Wranå was very happy after the final.
“We have played well throughout the tournament. We actually had some poor matches but we ended up winning them because we were a bit more experienced. But we met a good Japanese team in the final so we had to fight hard for this win,” says Isabella Wranå.
The Swedes took control of the final early on.
“Things turned our way in the fourth end when we stole one and got a two point lead. Then we force them into another one pointer and we took a second two pointer. From that point on the outlook was bright for the final rounds,” says Isabella Wranå.
Not too much rest in sight for the winners.
“Now we go home and stay there for a week, then it’s off to Canada for two weeks more of competition,” says Isabella Wranå.
Two Swedish teams in the prize money
In the bronze match Swedish Team Sundberg met Swiss Team Fellmann. The Swedes were sharper and won 9-3. The Finnish national Team Kauste missed the finals with a crushing loss, – the last stone was just only a few centimetres too long, leading to a 6-8 loss against Team Yoshimura.
