Jenny is aiming for the top

Paf is now the main sponsor for the biathlete Jenny Fellman, who made her World Cup debut in Finland’s biathlon team last season. During the summer she has trained hard, won two Finnish national medals in running biathlon and followed it up with a high altitude camp in Antholz in Italy during the autumn.

‘I have been training hard all summer long – the days were mostly eat-train-sleep and then repeat. My training has gone really well in the summer and I hope it will produce good results in the winter.

I am very grateful and happy to have Paf as a sponsor. It has helped me a lot this year and, among other things, has enabled me to go to the high altitude camp in Antholz where the World Championships will be held later this season,’ says Jenny to Paf.

The biggest stars in biathlon were training for the upcoming season on the same ranges as Jenny at the Antholz training camp – including Dorothea Wierer, Martin Fourcade, Lisa Vittozzi and Kaisa Mäkäräinen.

The season starts in Kontiolahti

The real racing officially begins for Jenny in Kontiolahti 16-17 November with the international Grand Prix biathlon competition.

‘I have good memories from last year in Kontiolahti so I am really looking forward to starting the season there. This year I want to improve my personal best in the IBU Cup. Establishing myself in the national team that competes in the World Cup is obviously the ultimate goal for me,’ says Jenny.

Declined national team training

In the spring, Jenny decided not to train with the Finnish national team for the upcoming season.

‘I thought the benefit of training on my own with my own schedule were better for me this year than the benefits of training with the national team. Now I’m satisfied with that decision because I feel I have developed my skills to suit my needs,” says Jenny.

Jenny made the decision to decline national team after she was sure that it would not affect her chances of being selected in the Finnish squad.

‘I thought deeply about whether my decision would affect my standing with the national team but it was explained to me that the results of the competition in Kontiolahti will form the basis for how decisions are made for all winter competitions – both the World Cup and The IBU Cup,” says Jenny.
